General Theme "Global Socio-Economic Crisis and Crime Control Policies: Regional and National Comparison"
Global economic crisis has caused significant structural changes in state and society in many countries. Those changes must have also affected crime situation. What kinds of crime prevention strategies have been adopted by different countries to cope with such changes? This Congress examines the current situation of crime and crime prevention strategies mainly through comparative analysis of regions and nations.
Plenary Sub-Theme 1: "Global Economic Crisis and Criminology"
How is criminology dealing with global economic crisis and structural changes in state and society? This plenary session examines the current situation of criminology with regard to both crime and crime prevention strategies.
Plenary Sub-Theme 2: "Models of State and Crime Prevention Strategies"
Different countries adopt different models of state, including welfare state, neo-liberal state, post-neo-liberal state, etc. The relationship between state and civil society may vary from one model of state to another. This plenary session examines the relationship between models of state and types of crime prevention strategies.
Plenary Sub-Theme 3: "Corporate and Business Crime"
The global economic crisis may have been both a cause and a result of corporate and business crime. This plenary session examines corporate and business crime, such as market manipulation and fraud, from a new criminological perspective in current situation.
Plenary Sub-Theme 4: "Frontiers of Clinical Criminology"
Changes in crime caused by structural changes in state and society must have presented new challenges to clinical criminology. This plenary session examines frontiers in clinical criminology, including both psychological and medical approaches.
