Attrition during Criminal Procedures in South Africa Concerning Rape Cases
South Africa is suffering from a comparatively very high murder rate. Also crimes of rape are reported to happen in a comparatively extreme high number.
The Medical Research Council of S.A. (http://www.mrc.ac.za/) has published a research study on how many cases where suspects had been charged with rape by the law enforcement agencies "got lost" at later stages of the criminal procedure. This is very often the case, as the report by Rachel Jewkes shows convincingly.
The report is being available as PDF-file.
